Kinja'd!!!

So, this truck has popped up on Oppo a few times now. I guess the guy is now parting it out now per the final paragraph in his ad.

I TRIED TO HAVE SOMEONE SAVE THIS TRUCK FOR 6 MONTHS BY OFFERING IT AT A FAIR PRICE. I HAVE GIVEN UP - THIS IS GOING TO BE PARTED OUT AND SCRAPPED. IT’S SAD - I STARTED IT UP AND DROVE IT AROUND THE YARD BEFORE PULLING IT INTO THE GARAGE. I WILL BE SELLING ALL OF THE PARTS WHEN I GET AROUND TO IT. DON’T EXPECT ANY GARAGE SALE “STEALS” - I’VE OWNED THIS TRUCK FOR 21 YEARS AND KNOW WHAT THE SHELBY PARTS GO FOR . . . LET’S JUST SAY I’M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THIS TRUCK CAN’T BE SAVED . . . .

I love these “it’s all someone else’s fault” that I had to do this ads. Seriously?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Best part of the ad and likely why nobody bought the thing..

The price is $2800 OBO - please don’t bother me with low-ball offers, certified check scams, or offers to sell it for me. I can probably sell the Shelby wheels, front spoiler, light bar, interior parts, computer, etc. for close to that and still sell the drivetrain and body parts for more if I want to. I would rather have someone fix it up and drive it rather than part it out that way.

Sorry pal. It just doesn’t work that way with a very limited appeal ride.

Good luck!

Does he realize he is the living incarnation of the “NO LOWBALLERS I KNOW WHAT I HAVE” Craigslist joke?

The truck can be saved.... if he offered it for a realistic price. There's much better ways to blow $2800 than that.

$1200 seems more like it. Sad thing is his wife will probably make him donate it to one of those “cars for charity” organizations before too long. When he could of just been realistic and sold it to someone who WOULD of saved it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen somebody try to guilt me into buying a vehicle with the old ‘I’m not mad at you, I’m disappointed’ trick.

$2800.00? Got to be worth it, because first thing I think of when I hear “Shelby” is a Dodge Dakota!

Closer to $2000 and I would have given it a second look. But his ad was clear that he could sell some of the parts for that much. I’m pretty sure this dude pronounces OBO “Firm".

Those aren’t the Shelby wheels.

Kinja'd!!!

These are Shelby wheels. He’s got those silly ‘70s Lincoln/Thunderbird Turbine wheels...

Oh, he’s gonna part it out, eh? “I really mean it, this time!”

Call him out. Pick something you’re interested in (like the light bar or the wheels), and make an offer.

I’m kidding, of course. Somebody oughtta buy the truck (for a fair price).

What an idiot. The thing doesn’t even have the Shelby wheels. The Shelby Dakota looked like this:

Kinja'd!!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_Da…

And the Shelby package was little more than a paint and trim package with the TBI 5.2L V8 standard... with a minor tweak done to give it an extra 5hp.

And here’s more info from Allpar:

http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/dodg…

What he has there is a beat up old pickup with a paint/trim package that probably isn’t worth more than $1000...

And yeah, he could ‘part it out for more’... if the parts weren’t worn, faded or beat to shit. Used parts that look old, faded and beat to shit won’t get him nearly as much as he thinks.

Yeah, but none of the Shelby Chrysler products are worth that much as far as I know

The turbo k-car variants are appreciating a bit, mostly because so many of them were used up and thrown away. Shelby Daytonas used to be $2000 cars, now good ones are up over $6000. That said, the Shelby Dakota is probably the most unloved Shelby Dodge, and even a GLHS or Daytona in that shape is still a sub-2000 dollar car.
